Opening with a disembodied voice that addresses the world from somewhere beyond clear translation, 'Aviator' is an introspective reflection on Hobbs' Latine mestizo heritage held through absence. The work is structured as a fully integrated dramaturgical arc that considers what it means to be shaped by an inheritance that cannot be fully recovered nor separated from the self. Exploring memory, language, and assimilation, 'Aviator' considers culture and identity as a force that persists through mutation, adaptation, and the effort to understand what has been carried forward.
Through a combination of movement, sound, and visual elements, 'Aviator' creates a space for contemplation and connection, inviting audiences to reflect on their own experiences of identity and belonging.
